Yay! Heat!
We're warm again! Turns out, there were three minor things wrong with the furnace and it was an easy and inexpensive fix. Good thing, it's supposed to be 6 degrees tonight. Yep...6. Before the furnace was fixed tonight I planned to keep warm by baking apple dumplings. I went ahead and made them anyway. Want your house to smell as good as mine does right now? Here's the recipe.
1 recipe pastry for a 9 inch double crust pie
6 medium apples, peeled and cored
3/4 cup white sugar
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup brown sugar
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Combine cinnamon and sugar. Roll dough out and cut into 6 pieces. Place an apple on each piece and fill cored center with cinnamon sugar. Wrap each apple in dough and place in a baking pan. Combine brown sugar and water and heat until boiling. Pour sauce over the wrapped apples. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes, or until golden brown.
