I sleep with my tax man

Not the nerdy type with pale skin and a smoking problem but an accountant nonetheless. He is a corporate accountant by day and three months of the year he's a tax man. Yesterday he went straight to the tax office from work and was home around 9pm. He left this morning at 8:30 and will be gone until at least 8 tonight. I miss him. And it's only just begun...

Yay! Heat!

We're warm again! Turns out, there were three minor things wrong with the furnace and it was an easy and inexpensive fix. Good thing, it's supposed to be 6 degrees tonight. Yep...6. Before the furnace was fixed tonight I planned to keep warm by baking apple dumplings. I went ahead and made them anyway. Want your house to smell as good as mine does right now? Here's the recipe.

1 recipe pastry for a 9 inch double crust pie
6 medium apples, peeled and cored
3/4 cup white sugar
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup brown sugar

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Combine cinnamon and sugar. Roll dough out and cut into 6 pieces. Place an apple on each piece and fill cored center with cinnamon sugar. Wrap each apple in dough and place in a baking pan. Combine brown sugar and water and heat until boiling. Pour sauce over the wrapped apples. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes, or until golden brown.

Brrrr...

For the third straight year we're experiencing furnace trouble. How can someone have a heating problem every year? We have always turned the heat down pretty darn low at night. Troy puts off a lot of heat naturally, and leaving it above 60 at night with him laying next to me makes me want to open a window. Who cares that it's 20 degrees outside? So do you think turning it up/down 15 degrees at a time might have something to do with it? Because seriously...3 years in a row? We've even been in two different houses during that time. It's got to be us.

It''s really not that good....

I don't know why I always think drinking sounds good. It's really not. Maybe I just don't do it often enough anymore but, although I amused Troy last night, I really didn't enjoy it like I thought I would. And today I feel like poop. Nice. 99 bananas is 100% pure nastiness no matter what you mix it with.
The house cleaning can wait. I'm putting on sweats, hitting the couch and watching Snakes on A Plane. Seen it? Any good? Eh, I'll find out.

First. Post. Ever.

I created this several months ago and today I'm posting for the first time. Nothing is really special about today, although I realized this morning that today is the birthday of my childhood best friend, Kim. Our friendship started in first grade and ended sometime in High School. I can't remember why it ended, but it seems if it was actually as good of a reason as it seemed to be back then, I would be able to remember it today. But regardless, Happy birthday, Kim.
